Girl experiencing dry and itchy skin on her back

Sick of Repetitive Dermatitis?

A case share today

This patient has repetitive dermatitis for a few years. It was getting worse recently when she came to see me.

You can see red, raised, rough, itchy areas of skin with scaling around her neck and armpit.

She mentioned that she tended to get it more often if she had a lot of stress, was tired and lack of sleep.

She also remembered that the night before she had the rash on her neck the next day, she had spicy food, which she didn’t usually have.

After a thorough consultation, including different organ systems, diet, daily life habbits, pulse and tongue checking, I diagnosed her blood deficiency generating dryness and wind, with blood stasis and heat from yin deficiency in traditional Chinese medicine. I prescribed one-week herbal medicine for her and she told me the itchiness had 50% reduced. Her tongue looked much better from dark red with thin yellow coating to light red with thin white coating as shown in the picture.

I adjusted the herbal medicine prescription for two more weeks for her as her condition had changed and improved.

Her feedback was that she didn’t have any symptoms now, not even with rash, redness on skin.

Prescription includes:

Danggui (Angelica sinensis)

Shengdi (Radix Rehmanniae Recens)

Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba)

Jixueteng (Caulis Spatholobi)

Danshen (Salvia miltiorrhiza)

Chuanxiong (Szechwan Lovage Rhizome)

Difuzi (Kochia scoparia)

etc.
